In Memoriam
Alexander Motsenigos
1971-2012
Friend and colleague Alexander Motsenigos passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 24, 2012 when the bicycle that he was riding in his hometown, Wellesley, Massachusetts, was struck by a vehicle. The police are investigating the accident.
As Program Vice President for IDC's Global Services Markets and Trends team, Alex was responsible for IDC's Services data product offerings. He was instrumental in the creation of IDC's Worldwide Services Contracts Analysis program, which represents the largest and richest information repository of IT and business services deals in the world. In his 12 years at IDC, Alex also served as a research analyst for the knowledge management and globalization services markets. In 2008, he received the James Peacock Memorial Award, IDC's highest research honor for professional excellence in market research.
"Alex was an outstanding research vice president and wonderful colleague," said Kirk Campbell, President & CEO of IDC. "He will be deeply missed by IDC's employees and our customers. The IDC community is providing all of the support that we can to Alex's family."
Prior to joining IDC, Alex performed independent consulting and research projects with U.S. Wireless Corporation, Cambridge Technology Partners, Ross Research, and Northeastern University. He earned a Master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Accounting from Northeastern University, graduating with Beta Gamma Sigma honors, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, from Trinity College. Alex was an avid sportsman and had completed three triathlons in the past year.
Alexander is survived by his wife, Nilanthi Motsenigos, and their six-year-old son, Nikolas.
A wake will be held Thursday, August 30th, at the Faggas Funeral Home in Watertown, Massachusetts, and funeral services will be held Friday, August 31st, at the Taxiarchae/Archangels Greek Orthodox Church in Watertown.
If you have a story of remembrance or a personal story of how Alex touched your life, IDC will be creating a keepsake for his family to know how his customers, colleagues, and friends held him in such high regard. Please send these remembrances to Leah Barton in IDC Human Resources (lbarton@idc.com).
