dotted lines

The IDC Mentor Program is one way IDC supports collaboration, professional development and sharing of best practices for our employees. The program entails a one-year partnership with an individual in an employee's common functional area (analyst to analyst) or cross-functionally (consulting to sales). While employees in the Mentor Program are free to focus on any area of professional development they choose, IDC offers the following suggestions to help get them started:

  • Career management
  • Collaboration
  • Conflict management
  • Cross-functional training
  • Global perspective
  • Job specific training
  • Leadership skills
  • Life/work balance
  • Navigating IDC
  • Organizational development
  • Professional/personal achievement
  • Team building
"Mentees are able to ask questions that they may prefer not to ask their managers," noted Mark Levitt, Research Vice President in the IDeAS Research Group, who served as a mentor to Amy Harris Lind, a Program Manager in the Clients & Mobility Research Group. The program also gives relatively new employees a leg up on meeting colleagues and great insight into the corporate culture at IDC. "I can share lessons learned from experience at IDC and explain how I have dealt with situations similar to what Amy may be facing," Levitt said. Harris agreed, noting that one of her primary motivations for joining the program was "exposure to other people and groups within IDC and a chance to learn from their experiences and practices."
