Martin Canning
Vice President, European Services Group, IDC

Based in IDC's Amsterdam office, Martin Canning is vice president of IDC's European Services research group. As a member of the strategic consulting team he is responsible for the execution of broad-ranging consulting projects covering the complete range of the group's services research. In addition, he is a member of the management team responsible for steering IDC's European services research group, covering business process outsourcing and business solutions including CRM and SCM, to basic support.

Canning joined IDC in 1996 to initiate research in the area of network support and integration services. Since then he has successfully worked to combine IDC's European research activities in systems and network services to provide an integrated view of the European market for IT infrastructure services.

Prior to joining IDC, Canning spent more than nine years at Lucent Technologies Network Systems (formerly AT&T Network Systems), where he held several international positions in customer business management and product management. Canning holds a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering from Dublin City University.
