Ruediger Spies
Analyst & Independent Vice President Enterprise Applications

 

Ruediger Spies is Independent Vice President Enterprise Applications with IDC Central Europe.

Based in Munich, Spies focuses on the composition and developments of the enterprise applications market (ERP, CRM, SCM, EAI etc.), architectures (e.g.: SOA), intellectual property management and open source. In this role, Spies provides stategic advice to both the IT vendor and end user community.

Before joining IDC, Spies was an Analyst/Executive Advisor with Experton Group. Prior to this, he was Vice President Enterprise Applications and global Lead SAP Analyst at META Group.

Ruediger Spies gained extensive experiences in the last 25 years both in the management of international enterprises and on the technological side, whereby he concentrated mainly on the above mentioned ranges. Moreover, he was an expert on Internet technologies and infrastructure strategies. In addition, Ruediger Spies has detailed strategic know-how within the range of IT/Business Alignment, project organization, project management and quality management. Other stations of his career were EDS/A.T.Kearney, Informix, IBM in Germany, France, England and the USA as well as GEI, which today belongs to T-Systems.

Spies has built up a reputation as being one of the most influential IT-opinion makers in Germany, has additionally published a multitude of professional articles and is a frequent speaker at conferences and conventions. Moreover Mr. Spies is co-author of several books about CRM.

Mr. Spies studied Physics at the University of Hamburg and Electrical Engineering at the University of Aachen. Since 2007 he is also a patent attorney.
