This IDC study identifies IDC's Outsourcing and Offshore Services research team's top 10 predictions for the outsourcing and offshore services marketplace for 2012. It highlights the major trends and critical developments that will affect the wide spectrum of services across both IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) services. "IDC believes that while in 2012 customers will increasingly shift to using cloud services as their means of outsourcing, which will be supported by an increasing pool of suppliers that cuts across both technology and services firms, 2012 will be the year of the 'Great Awakening' by traditional outsourcers," said David Tapper, VP, Outsourcing and Offshore Services at IDC. "This awakening will involve the need for traditional outsourcers to take a long-term view of their businesses and understand what they need to do to ensure they have a sustainable business that can ultimately move from a traditional, more labor-oriented model of service delivery to a model of service delivery, referred to as cloud, which is much more highly automated and requires a new business model."
