Abstract

This IDC update summarizes the findings and participant feedback from the analyst relations meetings at the IDC Directions 2012 events. IDC advises companies to keep on top of the four forces (cloud, mobility, big data/analytics, and social/unified communications and collaboration) that are driving information technology industry transformation.

How will these four forces affect the analyst relations (AR) profession?

IDC asked this question to more than 100 AR executives from leading technology companies that gathered at the IDC Directions 2012 events held on March 7 in San Jose, California, and on March 13 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Crawford Del Prete, IDC's executive vice president of Worldwide Research, provided each group with an intriguing view of the four forces. Table discussions followed the presentation, with each table responding to a different question about the implication of these important trends.
