Abstract

This IDC study analyzes and forecasts the market for broadband services in the U.S. small and medium-sized business (SMB) marketplace. The study provides IDC's definition of SMB, calculates the number of business locations subscribing to business-grade broadband services, and presents a detailed forecast beginning in 2012 and extending through 2016.

"The U.S. small and medium-sized business marketplace for broadband services will continue to grow steadily over the forecast period. According to Matt Davis, director, SMB Telecom Services, IDC, "The market has become much more competitive given the successful entry of cable operators, the renewed focus of ILECs, and the flexible adaptation of CLECs. Overall, this is good news for U.S. small and medium-sized businesses, which can expect faster broadband, a larger variety of innovative broadband-delivered services, better customer support, and more cost-effective pricing."
