Abstract

This IDC study reviews the growth of the Windows Server product family during 2011 and provides shipment and installed base forecast through 2016 for Windows server operating environment products.

"Windows Server 2012 looks like a very solid product, and we expect that it will be a consolidation platform for existing workloads running on the aging Windows Server 2003 platform, as well as from Windows Server 2008," said Al Gillen program VP, System Software at IDC. "Customers are likely to feel some pressure relief from the Windows Server 2012 product."
