This IDC study examines the worldwide network security market, which consists of the firewall, unified threat management (UTM), intrusion detection and prevention (IDP), and virtual private network (VPN) technology markets. It provides vendor shares for 2011 and forecasts by individual market for 2012–2016. "Organizations continued to invest in strong network security solutions to protect their networks in 2011," said John Grady, senior analyst for IDC's Security Products program. "Further, rapid innovation in the network security space continues to address the ever-changing threat landscape, which will drive further growth in the market."
