Abstract

This IDC study contains IDC's worldwide IP PBX and desktop hardware IP phone forecast for 2012–2016. It provides a forecast for the total IP PBX market (pure and hybrid) by IP PBX line shipments and desktop hardware IP phones shipped. IDC estimates for manufacturers' revenue are also included.

"Low single-digit IP PBX revenue growth is predicted by IDC for 2012–2016, with an expected compound annual growth rate of 2.7% for the forecast period. Product and revenue challenges will continue for the IP telephony/UC vendors as the IP PBX market evolves from a hardware-based model to a software-based model," states Rich Costello, IDC senior research analyst, Unified Communications. "We also see the proliferation of enterprise mobility devices and the interest in hosted voice, hosted UC and UC cloud-based service offerings (UCaaS) as factors that will impact premise-based IP PBX revenue growth, especially in the latter part of this forecast and beyond."
