This IDC study provides quarterly worldwide unit shipments and market share for applications processors used in ereaders and media tablets through the first quarter of 2012. "The market for application processors for ereaders and media tablets slowed due to seasonality and economic uncertainty, as well as product and technology transitions," according to Michael J. Palma, research manager for Consumer Semiconductor and Electronics Manufacturing research at IDC. "In 2012, we will see the Wintel ecosystem enter the tablet market and change the competitive landscape."
