This IDC update presents findings from IDC's U.S. PC Market Top 10 Update: 2Q12 (forthcoming) as well as analysis of major industry activities that occurred in the month of July. In July, Apple's earnings call revealed that, while the iPad and the iPhone are still experiencing robust growth, the company failed to meet Wall Street expectations, partially attributed to slowing sales of Macs. Also occurring in July, Lenovo and EMC announced a partnership that would leverage the former's strong position in high-growth regions (including China) and the latter's expertise in server and networked storage technologies. IDC's analyses of both events are provided in subsequent sections. The highlights of this update are: - U.S. Market Struggles with Sluggish Consumer Spending
