Abstract

This IDC Flash examines Violin Memory's suite of data management capabilities for the firm's all-flash memory arrays. Violin made this announcement on August 13, 2012. These data management capabilities are based on Symantec's Storage Foundation Suite, which the two firms have been collaborating on integrating with Violin's arrays for the past nine months. When Violin releases these features for general availability, its product portfolio will have data management capabilities that include snapshots, cloning, deduplication, replication, and thin provisioning. Violin dubs this feature set as "Data management at the speed of memory."
