Abstract

This IDC Presentation provides an update on worldwide SMB IT spending through 2015, with total spending and year-to-year growth details for both small businesses (firms with fewer than 100 employees) and midsize firms (those with 100–999 employees). The share of 2011 SMB IT spending by region is presented along with the expected spending growth expected by region for 2012. In a similar way, 2011 share of SMB IT spending for each of the five technology categories is presented (PCs and peripherals, systems and storage, networking communications equipment, packaged software, and IT services) along with growth rates for 2012. IT spending forecasts and year-to-year growth rates are also presented for U.S. SMBs so comparisons between global and U.S. growth rates can be made. A version of this IDC Presentation was given to clients in July 2012.
