This IDC Insight takes a look at the Oracle OpenWorld user and partner conference held September 30–October 5, 2012, in San Francisco, California. This year's annual event drew over 50,000 registered as well as over 1 million online participants, previewed new product offerings across Oracle's broad portfolio, and launched Oracle's complete cloud strategy with offerings in all three tiers: software as a service, platform as a service (PaaS), and infrastructure as a service (IaaS). Of particular interest this year was the expanded availability of Oracle Fusion Applications with live customers on all three deployment models — on-premise, hosted, and SaaS — and the launch of Oracle Social Relationship Management Suite.
