"Although promising, the launch of Windows 8 will require substantial marketing commitment from the industry to articulate the story about Windows 8. As such, the rollout will likely occur at slower pace than desired," says Rajani Singh, research analyst at IDC's U.S. Quarterly PC Tracker and Personal Computing Programs. "The PC industry is likely to focus first on a 'surface'-like form factor for the imperative of competitiveness before porting new technologies into clamshell devices."
