This IDC study discusses IDC's UC&C MaturityScape, which is targeted at organizations that are interested in understanding how they can take the necessary actions and steps to move forward successfully with UC&C technology and solutions.
Results from IDC's 2012 U.S. WAN Manager Survey indicate that a healthy 53% of organizations had either short-term or long-term plans to implement UC&C moving forward. "We are seeing renewed interest in deploying UC&C among organizations, enterprises, and increasingly SMBs," states Rich Costello, senior research analyst, Unified Communications and Enterprise Networking Infrastructure. "This interest is being driven increasingly by technologies such as mobility, collaboration, and video, along with integrating business processes and applications with communications." IDC's UC&C MaturityScape traces the increasing value and investment of UC&C technology across five stages (from ad hoc to optimized), identifies the business benefits that organizations can realize in each of the stages, and provides guidelines to help organizations achieve the stages.
