This IDC study presents a five-year forecast for the worldwide services industry from 2014 through 2018 and updates Worldwide Services 2013–2017 Forecast Update (IDC #244585, December 2013). The main purpose of this study is to forecast spending and identify trends that are influencing worldwide services markets on a regional basis and to discuss their effects on worldwide services growth for the five years through 2018.
"Downward adjustments to IT outsourcing markets have brought down short-term expectations for growth, particularly in the United States and Western Europe," said Chad Huston, senior analyst, Worldwide Services program. "But outside of that, growth in project-based services along with business services is still strong. Vendors that can ride growth in those markets will undoubtedly gain market share in the face of slow growth in IT outsourcing."
