This IDC study is the third Asia/Pacific (AP) vendor assessment of the next-generation telecom services market, using the IDC MarketScape model. Eleven key telecom SPs in the region are being assessed on their capabilities and strategies, relative to one another, based on a comprehensive framework and a set of parameters that are expected to be most conducive for the success of delivering IT and telecommunication services to the enterprises in the short- and long-term period.
"In the past 12–18 months, there have been increased investments in the Asia/Pacific region from both enterprises and telecom SPs. While enterprises continue to focus on market expansion in the region, they are also seeking to leverage new technologies and ICT services to help gain a competitive edge and capture new revenue. SPs that have a wide range of network services, especially good local presence in emerging markets in the region and a wide range of ICT portfolio that range from WAN/application acceleration to managed security to professional services, consultancy, cloud services, mobility solutions, and managed desktop to datacenter solutions and others will be able to serve the varied ICT needs of these expanding enterprises," says Sherlin Pang, senior research manager, Asia/Pacific Telecom Operator Strategies, IDC Asia/Pacific.
