This IDC Presentation is part of IDC New Zealand's 3rd Platform Heatmap series. It examines the maturity, challenges, and business objectives of the adoption of DevOps in New Zealand as well as end users' preferences for applications development and vendor engagement. The report draws a connection between DevOps initiatives, security and compliance, and platform-based solutions in the context of digital transformation. In addition, it provides actionable advice for both end users and vendors, along with the best practices for seamless integration of DevOps initiatives, including IDC's DevOps framework, risk mitigation across the DevOps project life cycle, vendor and product selection, and DevOps metrics building.
"As digital transformation becomes the critical component of sustainable competitive advantage for businesses, IT organisations look for continuous delivery of customer-aligned functionality with increasing levels of quality and security. DevOps is seen as one of the levers for digital transformation," says Donnie Krassiyenko, market analyst for IT services and security, IDC New Zealand. He adds, "The use of DevOps is maturing in New Zealand, with early adopters evolving operational models and technology investment strategies. Despite a mainly internal focus at this stage, 40% of organisations in the market have started looking for external sourcing because of the lack of both internal resources and available industry practices."
