This IDC study provides a summary and analysis of the strategic drivers for Paytm and Alibaba's partnership and its impact on Indian's digital economy. Paytm, a major Indian digital wallet, recently launched its new mobile app and online marketplace Paytm Mall, paving the road for Alibaba's India entry. Driven by a saturating ecommerce market and in a bid to acquire user base, Paytm, with Alibaba's support, shifted its focus from ecommerce to online-to-offline model to reach the remaining 900 million Indians without wireline internet access.
