Abstract

This IDC Survey investigates how Asia/Pacific's (including Japan) (APJ) C-suites are approaching generative AI (GenAI) investments, what priorities, objectives, and challenges they have, and their perceptions on the GenAI vendor landscape. The study findings are designed to help tech vendors understand how to meet the priorities of C-suite executives and can serve as peer reference research for C-suite executives in the enterprise.

Leading organizations are piloting use cases that democratize intelligence previously locked within data stores and a multitude of documents. By mining new data formats (i.e., unstructured) and coupling GenAI with traditional and predictive analytics, these efforts promise to unlock latent business value. At the same time, leading organizations envision transforming their business models by productizing these combined GenAI/AI/data capabilities (i.e., everything-as-a-service business models).

"AI Everywhere present enormous opportunities for technology vendors and service providers, starting with helping APJ C-suites formulate a pathway that connects ideas to impact," says Lawrence Cheok, associate research director, Digital Business Strategies.

The analysis in this report is based on an APJ subset of respondents of IDC's Worldwide C-Suite Tech Survey 2023–2024.
