Vodafone Australia (VHA) has released its 1H12 results, which reported that the company lost 178,000 subscribers. This is in addition to some 554,000 customers who left the network last year. Since its December 2010 peak of 7.5 million subscribers, VHA has managed to lose over 730,000 customers in 18 months. This equates to around 1,333 per day or 9.7% of its total customer base. VHA reports that it has retained 6.8 million of its customers, which is the equivalent to its numbers at the end of 2009. There is nothing in the results that suggests this is the bottom, as the rate of churn is only slowing down. This study considers some of the reasons behind the loss and imparts some of the options that VHA has in its current situation.
