Abstract

This IDC study reviews the 2011 performance of the major networking equipment vendors. This will help them better understand their positioning relative to their competitors. Because of the large number of similarly sized vendors in the networking space, vendors will find the competitive insight presented useful in capitalizing on networking trends, to maximize their relevance to customers and end users. The data in this study is based on IDC's Canadian Quarterly Trackers, which track factory revenue.

"Even though 2011 was not a banner year for networking equipment growth, it is definitely the sweet spot for vendors in this space going forward," says Marlene Graham, analyst, Infrastructure Solutions Group. "Demand for bandwidth, virtualization, and security is only going to keep growing, and companies will be making the infrastructure investment to remain competitive nationally and globally."
