This IDC study examines the Canadian professional services market and provides a forecast for the period from 2012 to 2016. The IT professional services market continues to grow in Canada, increasing by 4% in 2011, reaching approximately $6.8 billion. The current forecast calls for spending to rise by approximately 4% per year from 2011 to 2016, resulting in a spending total of $8.2 billion in 2016. "Capital spending projects, even those focused on IT, remain challenged in the current economic climate, but the importance of these projects and the impact on competitive positioning do provide a measure of insulation. IT professional services will continue to experience steady growth, and vendors should also take a patient approach to future growth," says Jim Westcott, research manager, Application Solutions, IDC Canada.
