Abstract

This IDC study, based on IDC Canada's telecom market model, presents our updated five-year telecom services forecast as well as summary-segmented forecasts by customer segment, company size, industry sector, and region. It is an essential document for any player in the Canadian telecom services market.

IDC expects the Canadian telecom services market to generate revenue of C$43.5 billion (including wholesale) in 2012.

"Our forecast shows that wireless, particularly wireless data, remains the sector's growth engine," says coauthor Lawrence Surtees, vice president and principal analyst in the Communications Practice at IDC Canada Ltd.

Wireline voice (local and long distance) will continue to decline in the forecast period. Although both the Internet and data segments contribute low single-digit growth, the VoIP, metro Ethernet, and IP VPN segments show strong growth.
