This IDC Health Insights study presents a successful experience with PACS implementation and its further use in the University Hospital in Ostrava, a major Czech hospital. It provides an overview of the reasons for PACS implementation and analyzes the achievements and challenges encountered along the way. In this report, healthcare technology vendors and IT services providers can find ways to develop strategies when addressing potential healthcare clients for PACS deployment. Furthermore, this report can provide guidance for CEE healthcare facilities considering implementing PACS. This can be a useful example for other CEE countries (e.g. Poland, Slovakia) where the maturity and saturation of the PACS market is still rather low.
"In most Western European countries, the market for picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) used by healthcare providers is often fully saturated with mature PACS applications. However, many Central and Eastern European countries are far from this stage. The PACS market in the Czech Republic is for vendors that are better developed as it is seen as saturated, thus contributing to the increasing digitalization of the healthcare sector." – Senior Research Analyst Hana Chmelova, IDC CEMA
