This IDC Energy Insights Perspective provides a summary of key takeaways from the recently completed Schneider Electric Influencer Summit 2014 in Boston (and Andover), Massachusetts. The event took place at Schneider Electric's brand new North American headquarters and R&D center, "Boston One Campus," inaugurated the day before in the presence of Boston mayor Marty Walsh, demonstrating Schneider Electric's strong commitment to the U.S. market. The new Boston One Campus relocates Schneider Electric's headquarters from Palatine, Illinois, and unifies the company's four existing global R&D centers located in Bangalore, India; Shanghai, China; Grenoble, France; and Monterrey, Mexico. Home to world-renowned research institutes like MIT, Harvard, Boston College, and many more, Boston was the ideal choice for Schneider Electric's new innovation-focused facility.
The 240,000 sq ft Boston One Campus showcases many of Schneider Electric's own products and systems. The facility is U.S. Green Building Council LEED Silver-certified and leverages Schneider Electric's SmartStruxure building management system, EcoAisle and EcoBreeze datacenter cooling systems, datacenter and server uninterruptible power supply (UPS), Schneider Electric Altivar variable speed for HVAC control, a variety of ultraefficient luminaires from Juno Lighting Group by Schneider Electric, and intelligent IP security management systems from Pelco by Schneider Electric. In addition, the campus' Discovery Center invites visitors to learn about Schneider Electric's energy management story as well as experiment with several of the company's solutions through simulated demonstrations.
