This IDC study focuses on the product portfolio and current market positioning of the Oracle server and converged systems lineup, available in the EMEA markets in mid-2012. In addition to providing market data and context for Oracle's server products, the paper analyzes channel and sales strategy for the vendor and briefly discusses competitive landscape in the region.
"The introduction of Oracle Exadata Database Machine marked a turning point in the way large datacenter OEMs think and design their products, with a growing market push for both workload-optimized and workload-agnostic converging stacks in EMEA," said Giorgio Nebuloni, senior research analyst, IDC EMEA Enterprise Server Group. "Oracle's recent results and product roll out identify Engineered Systems as the make-or-break area for its hardware business, as RISC-installed base remains under pressure. In this respect, IDC maintains that the signs of a more open partner strategy and the launch of channel-friendly products, such as the Oracle Database Appliance, might help the vendor improve visibility and market share in EMEA."
