This IDC Government Insights report presents results of the first IDC Big Data and analytics Maturity Benchmark based on a study of 701 organizations including 98 government organizations. IDC Government Insights developed this maturity framework to assist government in assessing their current capabilities and in evaluating gaps that may prevent them from reaching higher levels of Big Data and analytics maturity.
"Many government organizations do not yet have the Big Data and analytics maturity to address the range of technology, staffing, data, process, and strategic intent requirements needed to capitalize on their data assets," says Adelaide O'Brien, research director, IDC Government Insights. "Government agencies can use this research to assess their own Big Data and analytics maturity. Benchmarking to the BDA Maturity Model by understanding the key capabilities of survey responders that distinguish high achievers from low achievers, and knowing the top 10 traits of high achievers in their Big Data and analytics practices, can serve as a basis for government to gain value from these investments by improving their multifaceted endeavors in all five core Big Data and analytics dimensions — intent, people, process, technology, and data," she adds.
