This IDC study represents a vendor assessment model called an IDC MarketScape. This is a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the characteristics that explain a vendor's success and challenges in the market. The study assesses the technology capability and business strategy of several distributed server/workload automation vendors in Western Europe.
"Analysis of the Western European distributed server/workload automation software market has indicated that it is in a nascent state with significant growth potential for vendors to establish leadership positions. When assessing the seven vendors included in this study, it became evident that the evolving state of the market meant that no clear leader or leaders exist. However, the market is dominated by several well-known vendors that IDC considers to be major players and a couple of more recent vendors from adjacent markets as contenders," said Spencer Izard, research manager, IDC European Middleware and Systems Management Software. "The fluid nature of the market over the next several years will provide vendors the opportunity to rapidly improve and innovate. For Western Europe, in-country go-to-market characteristics are a significant factor when assessing which vendor can provide the best combination of product and service."
