This IDC Health Insights report examines the progress that personal health record (PHR) platforms, such as Dossia, Google Health, and Microsoft HealthVault, have made over the past several years; analyzes survey results regarding consumer attitudes toward PHRs; and discusses the future for PHRs in 2011 and beyond.
"When it comes to consumer adoption of PHRs and PHR platforms, patience will continue to be the watchword," states Lynne A. Dunbrack, program director, IDC Health Insights. "Consumer adoption of PHRs and the reasons for not using them have not changed significantly over the past five years. Greater strides in patient engagement will be required if interoperable, personal medical device–connected PHRs are to play an important supporting role for accountable care and patient-centered medical homes."
