This IDC Health Insights Perspective discusses the healthcare announcements and product discussions at the annual Allscripts Client Experience (ACE) event held August 14–17, 2012, in Chicago, Illinois. At the meeting, Allscripts introduced its strategy and road map for the next year to over 4,000 customers in attendance and also brought the event to its extended customer community via live Web stream. The 4,000 customers in attendance included end users from Allscripts' ambulatory and inpatient customer organizations, using products that include the Professional, MyWay, and Enterprise ambulatory EHRs, as well as Sunrise Acute Care. The main focus of the ACE meeting was at the manager and director levels of the end-user organization, providing these hands-on end users with both a view into product strategy and upcoming enhancements and training and practical solutions and approaches for handling the day-to-day issues involved in managing and optimizing the use of the products.
The high-level emphasis of the ACE event was on connectivity among its own product portfolio, specifically its historical ambulatory and relatively recently acquired inpatient product solutions. Allscripts' marketing tagline for the event, "open," was a recurring theme across the products, services, and domains that the company would be focusing on as it continues to evolve its portfolio and integration capabilities within the healthcare vertical. The showcase product at ACE was the new ADX integration, which connects the Sunrise inpatient clinical suite to the Enterprise ambulatory EHR, and is a critical element of the strategy embodied by the "open" tagline. ADX is currently in use at an alpha client site, Blessing Health System, and is scheduled for general release at the end of 2012.
