The information and communications technology (ICT) industry is in the midst of a once every 20-25 years shift to a new technology platform for growth and innovation. IDC calls it the 3rd Platform, built on mobile devices and apps, cloud services, mobile broadband networks, big data analytics and social technologies. By 2020, when worldwide ICT spending reaches $5 trillion ($1.7 trillion larger than it is today) at least 80% of the industry's growth will driven by these 3rd platform technologies. In the interim, there will be an explosion of new products and solutions built on the 3rd platform, along with rapidly expanding consumption of these products and solutions in emerging markets.
In this Web conference, IDC will share its predictions of 2013's critical events. Drawing on IDC's industry-defining research and insights from more than 1,000 IDC analysts worldwide, Senior Vice President and Chief Analyst Frank Gens will explore the industry events, user trends, and vendor strategies that will radically redefine the ICT market and redistribute market share as new solutions and leaders emerge on the 3rd platform. Gens will be joined by a panel of senior IDC analysts from around the world, who will offer their thoughts for 2013 in greater detail and answer questions from listeners.
