This IDC study represents a vendor assessment of the SAP service providers in the India ecosystem through the IDC MarketScape model. Both quantitative and qualitative characteristics that explain current capabilities and future strategies for successful SAP implementation are discussed and used in this study. The evaluation is based on a comprehensive and rigorous framework that assesses vendors relative to predefined criteria against one another. The positioning and classification of the participating vendors are not absolute ratings in any way but are relative among the 8 participating vendors. Where quantitative inputs were not provided, IDC has estimated the parameters.
"With ERP as a broad area in IT that has matured and with SAP being a key player, the study shows that vendors have started looking at innovative ways to leverage and customize their experience from global customers for Indian customers, who have been relatively late in adopting new areas in ERP. Given the cyclicality of ERP implementation, vendors offering core SAP implementation and extensions to it can be better prepared for what the industry will expect in the future through proper identification of areas of investment in terms of business needs, infrastructure, people capabilities, delivery methodologies, and financial models." says Ramachandran S, principal research manager, IDC Manufacturing Insights.
