Abstract

In this IDC study (a translation of the Japanese document IDC #J12200102) analyzes the implementation rates and future directions of enterprise IT security solutions in Japan based on the results of an IDC survey conducted in February 2012.

As IT platforms like cloud, mobility, Big Data, and social networking continue to affect the security market, security threats are also getting more sophisticated and persistent. Meanwhile, Japan is facing a chronic shortage of security engineers and few companies have dedicated security managers. Solutions that tackle sophisticated security attacks require advanced functions to monitor and analyze security states on a continued basis. These are hard to realize with internal security personnel alone. "Security vendors should develop solutions that support the effectiveness of their products with highly professional managed services. These will strengthen the security programs of user companies" says Tsuneo Tosaka, research manager, Software and Security, IDC Japan.
