This IDC study investigates trends among user companies, and the vendors and systems integrators that are the suppliers in the Japan Big Data solutions market. Companies are starting to divide into two groups in respect to their efforts in the area of Big Data and analytics: those actively engaged in them, which primarily consist of large enterprises, and those not so engaged. Although the size of the market is growing, the user base is leveling off. Data analytics are ushering in productivity improvements around the globe, and Big Data solutions that support Big Data and analytics initiatives among Japan companies, and that help them improve their competitiveness continue to play a crucial role. "Because Big Data solutions are premised on massive levels of integration and make use of the knowledge and experience accumulated within certain industries or sectors, they must be rebuilt as solutions that utilize the cloud and that can be developed quickly at an initially small scale," argues IDC Japan software and security Market Analyst Shintaro Kusachi.
