This IDC study looks at the MFP market through five end-user environments. The information in the study relates to user segment shares and forecasts for the Western European MFP market and is based on the latest 2015 MFP forecasts from published MFP studies.
"The home consumer and SMB markets constitute the bulk of MFP shipments, but it is the latter that is the most lucrative," said Phil Sargeant, program director, IDC Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions. "Some segments of the home market are loss-making, compelling many vendors to put more emphasis on the profitable SMB market, which purchases the widest range of products and solutions and prints the bulk of pages. The SMB market will see increases in inkjets and color laser, while monochrome laser installations will still remain sizeable, although they will decline. Suppliers are attracting SMBs through a variety of new go-to-market incentives (e.g., price plans and new technologies), and the SMB market will remain the main battleground for most vendors."
