Abstract

This IDC Insight provides an overview and analysis of the New Zealand government's plan to merge four government agencies into what has been dubbed as a "super ministry." On April 26, 2012, the New Zealand government announced that on July 1, 2012, a new Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) would be formed. Agencies that will be merged are the Ministry of Economic Development (MED), Ministry of Science and Innovation (MSI), Department of Labour (DOL), and the Department of Building and Housing (DBH).
