David Emberley is a Research Manager for IDCs Telecommunications Equipment practice. His primary focus is on opportunities and challenges facing network infrastructure suppliers selling to network service providers. Mr. Emberley provides clients with key insight into market dynamics, and vendor activities, in infrastructure markets. In addition, Mr Emberley analyzes the impact of technical transformations such as the converged IP edge with MPLS services, metro Ethernet deployments, the impact of IPTV on edge and core networks, and IMS deployment among major NSPs.

Mr. Emberley is also responsible for the management of IDC's Worldwide Telecoms Black Book service, which presents a consolidated view of market size and growth opportunities for network equipment vendors and network service providers on a country-by-country basis Worldwide. This is a comprehensive view of spending on voice and data services in both fixed and mobile network environments, together with spending on network equipment. Market size and forecast details are provided at the country level, with aggregations to the regional level, and are split between consumer and business users.

Prior to joining IDC's Network Infrastructure Group, Mr. Emberley worked with IDC's Global Research Organization. In this position Mr. Emberley provided world and regional market analysis and forecasts in Telecommunications and Internet spending. He was also responsible for managing IDC's Internet Commerce Market Model as well as contributing to several other primary research models.

Mr. Emberley holds a B.S. in Geography from Framingham State College.
