Team: Global IT Advisory Services
Clare Gillan is IDC's Senior Vice President, Executive and Go-to-Market Programs. Her teams serve the unique information and advice needs of specific professional roles including IT industry sales, marketing, and market intelligence executives; analysts within buy-side and sell-side firms; and IT leaders and procurement professionals responsible for large IT purchases. She is also responsible for teams that help IT vendors leverage IDC thought leadership as part of their own go-to-market programs. Services include sales education and enablement as well as outbound programs spanning integrated marketing, public events, and custom events.

Specifically, she is responsible for the following teams:

Executive Advisory Group (EAG) which supports sales, marketing, and marketing intelligence executives in the areas of strategy, investment and organizational planning. Offers include: benchmarking, best practices, and regular peer-to-peer board meetings for real-time problem solving and research needs identification.

Go-to-Market Services (GMS), a team of content-based marketing consultants dedicated to helping clients leverage relevant IDC content and custom services in go-to-market initiatives. The team provides insights and best practices on achieving the results with select program elements from a single call-to-action incentive to components of global integrated media campaign.

U.S. Conference Group which brings together technology buyers looking for the latest research and high quality benchmarking case study sessions and sellers who can offer insight into how enterprise decision makers can strategically use technology to gain competitive advantage.

Sales Enablement Services (SES), a team of consultants dedicated to helping IT vendors leverage relevant IDC content to improve sales performance. Offers include curriculum support such as instructor-led training, eLearning solutions, and custom content to support curriculum as well as performance support such as sales kick off presentations, industry sales guides, and other just-in-time information and sales tools.

TechInvestor, a team of registered research analysts leveraging IDC’s unparalleled research capabilities and worldwide network of analysts to offer the IT industry’s most comprehensive and innovative research program tailored to the investment management community.

Global Access, a team that supports the needs of the financial community (Investment Research Services), IT professionals (Global IT Advisor), and procurement and sourcing executives (IT Advisory Tools). Personalized and responsive service delivers relevant IDC research, tools and analysis.

In addition, Ms. Gillan oversees IDC's customer experience research which explores "buy-cycle" relationship dynamics between buyers and vendors.

During the 1990's Ms. Gillan held the title of Group Vice President, Applications and Information Access. In this role, she directed IDC's software research spanning enterprise applications, data warehousing, collaborative and consumer applications. Ms. Gillan was widely recognized as a top analyst in her field. She was quoted heavily in the trade and business press and regularly delivered the keynote addresses at conferences around the world.



Before joining IDC in 1988, Ms. Gillan held positions in consulting, sales, and support for companies specializing in applications development and IT professional recruitment. She holds an MBA from Boston University and a BS in mathematics and computer science from Stonehill College.
