Charles Kolodgy is a Research Vice President for IDC's Security Products service. In this role, he executes primary research projects, and analyzes markets for both vendors and user customers.
Mr. Kolodgy's responsibilities within the Security Products service includes both hardware and software security products. Product areas of concentration include endpoint security, vulnerability assessment and management, and encryption. Research areas that cut across product markets include product certification, website security, threats and security policy.
Mr. Kolodgy's perspectives on security products and security markets was shaped during his 16 year career with the National Security Agency (NSA). While employed within the nation's intelligence community, he held a variety of analyst and managerial positions within both information assurance and signals intelligence organization. He was certified under the Agency's Information Security Professionalization program. Among his accomplishments are the codification of business processes under which commercial products were approved for government use, the management of a Business Affairs Branch, and contributions to the export control policies on encryption.
Mr. Kolodgy is frequently quoted in popular business and trade publications such as TIME, Boston Globe, San Jose Mercury News, Information Security Magazine, BusinessWeek, eWeek, ComputerWorld, Network World, CSO, USA Today, Information Week, and others. He also has been a speaker at numerous industry events within the United States, including the RSA Security Conference, Government CIO Conference, and CEIC.
Mr. Kolodgy holds a Master of Arts degree in National Security from Georgetown University and a Bachelors degree from the University of Lowell (MA).
