Eric Sheppard is a program director for IDC's European Disk Storage Systems service and is the principal analyst responsible for the quarterly collection and analyzing of disk storage systems sales in 16 Western European countries. Sheppard also forecasts disk storage systems demand in each of these 16 countries and contributes to primary research and consulting projects regarding the Western European disk storage systems market. In addition to these responsibilities, he regularly presents market trends and hosts customer panels at various industry events.
Prior to his current role, Sheppard spent four years as an analyst for IDC's Worldwide Storage Systems service, where he was responsible for data collection and analysis of the storage systems infrastructure market. This market included Fiber Channel hubs, switches, host bus adapters, and bridges. Sheppard also contributed to IDC's Quarterly Disk Storage Systems Tracker as well as the annual Worldwide Disk Storage Systems Forecast and Analysis.
Before joining IDC, Sheppard spent five years as an analyst with IDG's Research Services Group. During that time he worked with IDG's large U.S. sales force, writing concise IT market briefs and creating research tools that were used to help generate revenue for many of the company's business units (e.g., Computerworld, Infoworld, PCWorld). He holds a BA in marketing from Fitchburg State College.
