Sureshpal Singh Puarr is an Associate Director at IDC Asia/Pacific, for Consulting, SMB and Channels Research. Based in Singapore, he drives the regional business development efforts, manages IDC's regional consulting team members located locally, and leads IDC's SMB and Channels research teams in the region.
With over eight years of research and consulting experience in the ICT industry, Suresh provides clients with strategic analysis, market research, industry perspective and business planning counsel in his role as a Consultant. His forte is in working with clients to design and apply market intelligence into strategic planning so as to guide tactical decision-making. Suresh has managed more than a hundred region-wide consulting engagements with hardware, software and services vendors across a range of vertical industries. Subjects covered include market analysis and opportunity assessment; product and service definition and validation; market segmentation and corporate procurement behaviour; brand and value perception; competitive analysis and differentiation; channel strategy development; benchmarking; and, returns on investment (ROI)/ total cost of ownership (TCO) studies.
As the Asia/Pacific SMB and Channels program leader, Sureshpal provides advice on the IT adoption and go-to-market strategies for the small and medium business (SMB) sector. He also provides insight into how global technology vendors go-to-market with volume and value partners, including distributors, value-added resellers (VARs), systems integrators (SIs), and independent software vendors (ISVs) across various country markets, vertical industries and customer size segments within the Asia Pacific region in both a resale and influence capacity. He studies and offers guidance on the development, implementation, and management of effective partner programs and strategies, as well as analyzes the trends that impact the relationship dynamics between technology vendors and their partner communities.
Prior to joining IDC, Suresh was responsible for market development at Samsung Data Systems covering South Eastern Asia. In this role, Suresh was involved in product and services management as well as partner recruitment and management in Asean.
Suresh holds a Bachelor's degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from the National University of Singapore as well as a Master's degree in Business and Information Systems from Strathclyde Graduate Business School, Scotland.
