Research Director, Financial Services Advisory, IDC Financial Insights Asia/Pacific
Li-May Chew is an Associate Research Director with IDC Financial Insights. In her role, Li-May is instrumental in identifying latest trends within the Asian risk management and global insurance sectors, and their strategic and tactical implications on the business operations and technology infrastructure of financial institutions.
Li-May regularly engages with key decision makers from financial institutions, and enterprise and financial technology vendors at executive forums and for proprietary consulting engagements across the risk management and global insurance arena. Within these sub-verticals, she collaborates closely with her team within IDC Financial Insights and with IDC colleagues globally to deliver on research and consulting for a plethora of topics ranging from Big Data analytics and implications on customer-centricity, to digital distribution and channel management strategies, to the applicability of technology pillars and disruptive technologies, amongst others.
Having worked within the capital market industry prior to IDC Financial Insights, Li-May further brings unique skills in quantitative analysis and research to the team. Over the years with Financial Insights, Li-May have led numerous bespoke projects around market and opportunity assessment, partner selection, customer profiling, vendor sales enablement and industry benchmarking. She regularly presents to CxOs and their deputies, moderates at conferences and closed-door discussion sessions around the region, and is frequently quoted in various trade publications and by the international media.
In addition to her responsibilities in helming IDC Financial Insights’ Asia/Pacific risk management and worldwide insurance programs, Li-May also co-manages the Asia/Pacific banking advisory services practice.
Li-May holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce, with a triple major in Accounting, Finance, and Economics from the University of Sydney, Australia. She was also a member of the Sydney University Chapter of the Golden Key International Honor Society, wherein membership is reserved only for top 5% of the student population with distinction average or better. Li-May earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation upon passing all three levels of rigorous examinations on first attempts, and her professional affiliations include those with the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR) and the Singapore Society of Financial Analysts (SSFA).
