Matt Healey is a research manager for IDC's Software and Hardware Support Services program. In this role he focuses on worldwide support services for hardware and software. IT hardware includes servers, storage, client devices, networking equipment, and peripherals. Software includes operating systems, databases, applications, and system software. Mr. Healey provides actionable intelligence and advice that assists software and hardware vendors in developing, marketing, and delivering support services to help them leverage these services to increase their overall customer satisfaction and technology sales. Additional areas of expertise include software and system support, high-availability and mission-critical support services, and channel and partnering strategies. In his role at IDC, Mr. Healey has conducted several demand side surveys on customer perception of support services and developed detailed global forecasts for many sub-segments of the hardware and software support services market.

Prior to joining IDC, Mr. Healey was a project manager at Strategic Analysis Inc., an international business consulting and research firm. In this role, his primary assignment was tracking the top IT services providers. His reports focused on evaluating target company service offerings in outsourcing, consulting, and support services, as well as assessing the overall financial health of the target companies. Mr. Healey also was responsible for producing market forecasts for clients and conducting in-depth, demand-side studies to provide a clear view of enterprise software customers' buying patterns and preferences.

Prior to his work at Strategic Analysis Inc., Mr. Healey was a senior market analyst for Corning International. His duties were in the area of competitive market analysis, including market sizing, market share analysis, breakeven analysis, and analyzing cost structures. Earlier, as a senior marketing engineer for General Dynamics, he provided engineering input regarding new products and markets.

Matt Healey has an M.B.A. from Carnegie Mellon University, with concentrations in Marketing and Finance, and a B.Sc. in physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). He is located in IDC's Framingham, Massachusetts office.
