Hideo Wada is a Group Director, managing two research groups, IT Spending and Software & Security. He is based in Tokyo. Hideo leads researches in IT Spending that includes Japan's Black Book, Vertical Market IT Spending research, Vertical Market with Company Size IT Spending research, SMB Market research, Compliance Market research, Vendor Business Portfolio and Strategies research, and User Survey for the Japanese market. He represents IRS and GITA for the clients. And also Hideo represents CMO research and Wallet research for the Japanese market. Hideo is a member of IDC Japan Top 10 predictions team. He is a regular presenter for IDC Japan's events; Predictions and Directions. Hideo conducts various Multiclient studies, and various custom researches and provides Go-To-Market services.
Prior to joining IDC, Hideo spent more than thirty years at Fujitsu Limited where he started as a compiler designer for Fortran programming language for Fujitsu's mainframe computers and supercomputers, and subsequently moved onto management positions in the Software Unit and the Strategic Planning Unit. He served as a chairperson of JIS (Japan Industrial Standard) Fortran Standard Committee, and also a member of ISO SC22 WG5. He served as a member of the IT promotion council of Ministry of International Trade and Industry. He has also worked in managerial position at Fujitsu America, Inc. and Amdahl Corporation in the United States for the marketing and support of the Supercomputer and relevant software for six years. He has also promoted various alliances with foreign IT vendors for years at Fujitsu. Most recently, he managed Middleware marketing for the overseas market as a director in the Software Unit, Fujitsu and managed a subsidiary in the United States.
Hideo has written several articles for IT magazines such as Nikkei Computer and Nikkei Solution Business. His comments have been quoted in newspapers such as Nikkei newspaper. He also made comments in Bloomberg TV news.
Wada holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Tokyo. He received Standard Contribution Award from IPSJ (Information Processing Society of Japan), in recognition of his numerous contribution towards Fortran 77 and Fortran 90 Standards for JIS, ISO and ANSI. He is certified as a Professional Engineer for Information Technology, and Comprehensive Technology Management, and also certified as an Information Processing Engineer. He served as a President of Fujitsu's Professional Engineer Society.
