Chris Morris is Associate Vice President for Asia/Pacific Cloud Services and Computing and Director of IDC’s regional Services Research, responsible for all services research. He is based in Sydney and addresses all areas of IT and business services, but focuses on the developing areas of cloud computing, data centre transformation services, service management and IT industry development strategies.
He is a member of the IDC worldwide and regional Cloud Computing and Predictions teams.
Recent engagements include:

Presentations on the impact of global economic conditions on IT spending in Asia/Pacific.

Participation in the worldwide research team developing research on cloud computing and its adoption in Asia/Pacific.

Facilitation of and presentations on cloud computing to regional CIOs for and on behalf of major regional telecommunications providers.

Research project on adaptation of data centre services to support new technology innovations, especially around consolidation and virtualization of servers and storage, and IT process automation. This was developed through collaboration with the regional Server Research team.

Custom research for regional governments on market opportunities for economic stimulus spending.

Development of first regional cloud computing market forecast.
Chris has a long history working in the ICT research market of Asia/Pacific. He joined Gartner in 1992 as the first research analyst in the region, working initially as the regional member of the worldwide Large Computer Strategies team, working extensively within Asia/Pacific until leaving at the end of 2001 when he was the Group Vice President and Director of Research for the Asia/Pacific region.
Chris holds a BE from UNSW.
