Marcus Torchia analyzes global regional markets for grid modernization, strategic project investment and business transformation for utilities and energy services providers. With nearly two decades of experience, Torchia supports business management, IT decision makers, and utility strategists on making optimal technology R&D and purchasing decisions for business process and business model adaptation.
Torchia joined IDC Energy Insights in 2008. Prior, he worked for Yankee Group Research establishing the firm’s research on machine-to-machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) domains in its wireless enterprise business unit. Before Yankee Group, Torchia worked for Nokia Venture Organization, responsible for internal R&D based startup venture activities for the U.S. offices. Past relevant industry responsibilities include managing software and hardware technology development and product management in system software for network service providers and mobile device manufacturers, software license structuring and business plan development.
Torchia earned an M.B.A. degree from Babson College, Olin School of Business, and is a former Peace Corps Volunteer stationed in Belize, Central America.Energy Insights,
