Wong Teck Zhung is a Senior Market Analyst with IDC’s Asia/Pacific Client Devices team.
He is involved in building IDC's successful research tracker programs and producing core market data used across all of IDC's Asia/Pacific research reports and consulting projects. Based in Singapore, Teck Zhung focuses on the Asia/Pacific Mobile Phone Tracker research and the Asia/Pacific Mobile Devices CIS program. In these areas, he is responsible for sizing and forecasting the smartphone and mobile phone markets on a quarterly basis, examining competitive and end-user trends.
Previously based in the Beijing office, Teck Zhung's views on the Greater China market have been quoted in mainstream media such as Bloomberg, Dow Jones, Reuters, Computerworld, CNBC Asia, and The Register. He has also appeared as a guest commentator on BBC.
Prior to IDC, Teck Zhung was a Sub Editor with the Global Pictures Desk at Thomson Reuters where he was part of a team responsible for timely photo coverage of political, business and technology, as well as sport and entertainment news. In his role, Teck Zhung did onsite editing at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Berlin and the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Prior to that, Teck Zhung taught English in Japan, as part of the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme, and was a Research Analyst with a business research and consulting firm.
Teck Zhung holds a bachelor's degree in Communications Studies (Honors) from the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore where he specialized in survey design, fieldwork and data analysis.
